Travel postcards from an artist with great projects dedicated to small children.
I am an artist – a French photographer born in New York but raised in Europe and the French Antilles. A place I regularly return to.
I graduated from the London College of Communication (University of the Arts London) where I studied photography.
In recent years, alongside photography which continues to be my overriding passion, and the exhibitions of my work I have been able to put on in England and France, I have been involved in a series of art direction projects.
The interior conversion of a Victorian building in the centre of London into a pirate ship: “The Ship of Adventures”. This is a coffee shop as well as a toy library, an original venue in which to stop and read, socialize, be entertained or just daydream in the company of pirates.
It is a place where you can go to learn and study a variety of things, by using creative projects in an original and fun environment.
I have handled the art direction for some niche musical festivals in England (among the most interesting bands worthy of mention: the XX, the Metronomy, the Rudimental…But in actual fact there are many more!)
Recently I went on a long trip to Siem Reap in Cambodia to work with an organization called “The Giant Puppet Project”, a community that develops and organizes art projects for children.
We worked on setting up a creative platform for small children to encourage them to use their powers of expression and help them increase their self-confidence.
I feel elegant: when I feel confident. It certainly helps to wear a long gown, tailor-cut to perfection…!
My favourite outfit: apart from wearing nothing…any haute couture.
Luxury is: a concept that is relative and absolutely personal. In my case, for instance, a newly laundered and fresh-smelling sheet is the finest and most luxurious sensation you can have before falling asleep.
The best gift I have ever received: this is a secret and it will remain so for a while…
In my suitcase: my camera.
My favourite place: the sea.
My soundtrack: it depends on my mood: but “Le temps de l’amour” by Francoise Hardy is certainly one of my favourite songs, together with “Lean on me” by Bill Withers and “Far from any road” by the Handsome Family.
Interior Decor: with objects and pictures that remind me of my friends and the places I have been to.
Favourite book: my favourite book of late is “The ocean at the end of the lane” by Neil Gaiman.
Favourite film: probably “True romance” by Tony Scott.
Fears: heights and pigeons.
Always: I always remember to brush my teeth.
Three "secret" addresses: :
- Le Select, St. Barth, not so secret but an authentic institution in the centre of the island: an old snack bar that has been running since 1949 and is an ideal place for meeting people;
- Meru, Siem Reap, Cambodia, a beautiful refuge close to the temple of Angkor;
- Posada Margherita, Tulum, Mexico, the Italian restaurant of the resort makes the best gluten-free pasta I have ever tasted.
