BON VOYAGE: Adrien Chavassieu

Around the world with City Tips

Tips from Adrien, the globetrotter and author of City App, who enables us now to map Brazil’s capital cities.

Currently developing the distribution of new luxury perfume fragrances, Adrien Chavassieu has been a globetrotter since his early days. Even if based in Paris, were we met him, he travels constantly, particularly in South America, where he is in charge of local distribution.
Here is a selection of his tips – in Brazil - that you can find on his app CITYTIPS, to be released very soon: www.facebook.com/citytips
After downloading it, users can add their tips and share them with their friends - quite useful for real globetrotters, like Adrien.

SAO PAULO:

Shopping
JK Iguatemi (Must See / Shopping)
Every luxury good you might want is in this shopping temple. Impressive!

Where to stay
Tivoli São Paulo - Mofarrej
Design hotel with lovely ground floor poolside terrace. Decent prices, especially if booked through tablethotels.com. Excellent Spanish restaurant on the 23rd floor with amazing view!

Hotel Emiliano
Likely to be the best in town. Right on the fancy Rua Oscar Freire. Amazing service. Cosy rooms with design furniture.

Sunset
Vila Maladena
Cool hip/art/designer neighborhood. Come in the evening and try some typical boteco brasseries and the picanha beef!

Food
Mr. Baker
Into the Itaim area, this little corner bakery does great breakfast and brunch. Don't miss the açaí healthy juice!

Chou
Cute little outdoor restaurant (covered for when it rains) with a perfect candle-lit atmosphere for a tête-a-tête or small group

Mani
Very laid back ambience, within a quiet atmosphere. A healthy menu, hosting original variations of well-known dishes as well as house specialties that will make it worth your visit!

Le Manjue Bistrô
Located in Vila Nova Conceicao area. Charming, with dim lights, fancy/trendy atmosphere. The perfect spot for a date!

At Night
Bar Número
Fashionable bar on 2 floors with trendy atmosphere. Best to come with locals: you need to know your way in at the door...

Hotel Unique
Not only interesting for the architecture. The bar/restaurant on the rooftop has one of the best views in Sao Paulo.
And, just in case, some of the rooms are really amazing !

RIO DE JANEIRO:

Must See
Parque Lage
Right next to Jardim Botanico, right below Corcovado hill, beautiful mansion with open-air atrium.
Currently operated by the Visual Art School, it features a nice café inside. Enjoy the exotic peacefullness... (Fun fact: the mansion was featured in the Snoop Dogg's music video "Beautiful")

Where to stay
Hotel Fasano
The famous stylish and fancy boutique hotel on North Ipanema. Amazing white marble pool on the roof, and a section of private beach in front. It's all about the glitz here! Try the ground floor bar too: “Londra”, to warm up your evening!

Rio 180 Suites & Cuisine
Hidden on the hill of Santa Teresa, this small boutique hotel gives you one of my favorite, breathtaking view of Rio, hence its name... Definitely a stop not to miss while visiting Santa Teresa. Perfect for a sunset aperitif.

Copacabana Palace
Most famous palace of Rio, right on the beach with its mythic white facade and ground floor pool.

Shopping
Osklen
Love this surf/lifestyle chain in Brazil. My shopping pick!

Sunset
Pedra do Arpoador
Gorgeous must see spot. Usually few surfers in action there too.

Food
Aprazível
Romantic dinner with breath-taking view in Santa Teresa

Carioca da Gema
Emblematic small bar to dance on good Carioca live music.
P.S. Do not walk off the main streets at night in Lapa area……

Porcao
The famous churascaria of Rio. Skip lunch before you go there for dinner! There are a few in the city.

Sushi Leblon
Where Japanese restaurant meets the fashionable local crowd of Leblon area.

Night
Baixo Gavea
