Tarik Al Zaharna
Dubai
Born in Saudi Arabia into a Palestinian family, architect Tarik Al Zaharna grew up in Luxembourg and studied in Lebanon, England and Germany, before working in New York (at Urban A&O) and Münster (at Bolles+Wilson). Then, in 2008, Al Zaharna decided to move to Dubai, where he opened an architecture studio in 2015. Compared to the classic idea of architecture that can be found in Dubai, Al Zaharna has developed his own alternative path where - as main ingredients - we find sustainability, local culture, and a focus on personal well-being. "Hybrid" is the term that Tarik often uses to describe his architecture and this is why we chose him as "No_Coder" for the Middle East area. In the video, we follow Tarik to his Dubai, a city that is sometimes unexpected, with respect to the clichés and stereotypes that characterize it.
